SALKANTAY - MACHU PICCHU
The Salkantay snowcapped mountain is the second highest in the region of Cusco and one of the most beautiful of Peru, at an altitude of 6264 masl approx. this it's part of "Vilcabamba mountains chain", and is located within the territory of the "Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu," at the time was one of the main roads used by the Incas to get to Machu Picchu, today is also one of the main entrances for tourists they like nature and adventure.
DAY 01.- CUSCO –MOLLEPATA – SORAYPAMPA.
We will transfer you from the hotel at 04:30 am and then go to "Mollepata" where we arrive in two hours and a half, this place will be given time to have breakfast and then start the walk, lunch will be served at around 13:00 hrs then we will continue until we get to "Soraypampa", where we will rest the first night.
DAY 02.- SORAYPAMPA – HUAYRAPATA
We started walking early in the morning after having breakfast, the Salkantay Pass, where we see the snowcapped Salkantay, then reach the town of "Huayrapata" We will camp and have dinner at approximately 6:00 pm.
DAY 03.- HUAYRAPATA – LA PLAYA.
Very early (6:00 am) we had breakfast and then we started walking at 6:30 am from the town of "Huayrapata", where we can see a variety of flora, medicinal, esoteric plants, orchids, and then go through the following peoples: "Arrayanpata", "Chaullay", "Collpapampa". Also enter to the hot springs where we can swim about an hour, then continue walking until "Winaypujio" for lunch, rested about an hour and then go to "La Playa", where we will camp.
DAY 04.- LA PLAYA – SANTA TERESA – AGUAS CALIENTES.
We got up at 5:00 am, we walk 10 minutes to board the truck to reach the town of "Santa Teresa" (approx 50 minutes), where we had breakfast (7:30 am), and then continue the journey to the town of "Hidro", walk where we walk through the suspension bridge and cross "La Oroya", we can appreciate artificial waterfalls y about 3 hours walk, then, lunch at 12:00 hrs and rest until 16.00 hrs, later to take the train from "Hidro" to "Aguas Calientes" (17:00 hrs), finally, we will eat and rest.
DAY 05.- MACHU PICCHU
Visit the stunning citadel of Machu Picchu where we will go by urban and agricultural area and we can see the towers, ceremonial squares, sacred spring, the famous "intihuatana" or sundial and the terraces from which to contemplate the Inca domains.
Finally we will take the bus down to our Hostal to pick up our baggage and then we will go to the train station to return to Cusco.
